It’s hard as fuck to drive J to that prison again. I didn’t want to do it—only I can’t say no to her. Deep down I understand. J feels responsible for the things her father does. I don’t like it—I don’t agree with it, but I do understand it.

I hold her for an extra second longer than usual before she walks through the first door. It kills me to watch her go.

I spend hours in that chair. I start with my notebook. When I lose focus on that I try to distract myself on my phone. Nothing holds my interest so I give up and stare at the ceiling.

I stare at the ceiling and wonder how bad J’s father will destroy her this time.
